PHOENIX -- Without getting a hit, the Arizona Diamondbacks Brandon Drury has delivered his team two 11th-inning wins in three nights. Mark Stone Jersey .Two nights after a game-winning sacrifice fly, the youngster scored the winner on a wild pitch with two outs in the 11th Friday night in the Diamondbacks 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds. After the Diamondbacks gave up a 2-1 lead in the ninth and then rallied to tie it in the 10th, Drury doubled with one out in the 11th off Blake Wood (5-3) and took third on a groundout. A walk brought up Jean Segura, and Woods first pitch bounced in front of home plate and went all the way to the backstop.Drury slid head-first across home plate for the win.You have to be ready for a ball in the dirt and any time it goes to the backstop, youve got to score on that play, Drury said. Anytime you pick your teammates up and help the team to win, thats a really good feeling all the way around.Wood explained his errant toss.Trying to throw a fastball down in the zone and threw it a little too far down. That was it, he said.Edwin Escobar (1-2) earned his first career major-league win with a scoreless inning. But the Diamondbacks blew a chance to win before extra innings and trailed in the 10th.A.J. Pollock, playing his first game in the majors this season after breaking his elbow in spring training, drove in the tying run for Arizona in the bottom of the 10th.The Diamondbacks were down 3-2 when pinch-hitter Phil Gosselin drew a leadoff walk, took second on a wild pitch and went to third on a balk by Raisel Iglesias. Pollock hit a grounder and Gosselin beat the throw home.Ramon Cabreras sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th drove in Scott Schebler, putting the Reds ahead 3-2.The Reds had runners on second and third base with one out after reliever Enrique Burgos balked. Cabrera hit a shallow fly ball to right field and Yasmany Tomas caught it and threw to third base for a double play, but Schebler crossed the plate in time.Cincinnati tied it at 2 in the ninth. Daniel Hudson got the first two outs, but singles by pinch-hitter Ivan DeJesus Jr., Billy Hamilton and Jose Peraza brought home a run.It slipped away from us. It was a game that was there for us to win, Reds manager Bryan Price said. We were able to take the lead and then some things kind of fell sideways on us there.Reds starter Brandon Finnegan struck out a career- high 12. He allowed only two runs on three hits and two walks over six innings.Rickie Weeks Jr. homered and tripled for Arizona.Braden Shipley overcame some control issues and pitched four-hit ball for seven innings, giving up a run with four walks and a strikeout.Exciting finish, we will take it anyway we can get it, Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said. A.J.S DAYPollock started in center field, batted second and struck out swinging at an offspeed pitch in his first at-bat, soon after getting a nice ovation from fans at Chase Field as he walked up to the plate.Pollock struck out twice on an 0-for-5 night, but he made a running catch.I felt good out there. Physically it is not an issue anymore, Pollock said of his elbow. Its good to be out there with the team and to get the win, its huge. Its like opening day for me. You have to get all of the first stuff out of the way.TRAINERS ROOMReds: C Tucker Barnhart was scratched from the original lineup with a sore right hand and replaced by Cabrera.Diamondbacks: OF David Peralta was transferred to the 60-day disabled list with a right wrist injury.UP NEXTReds: RHP Anthony DeSclafani (7-2) will make his third career appearance against the Diamondbacks, the second at Chase Field.Diamondbacks: RHP Zack Godley (4-2) has wins in each of his two career appearances against the Reds, though hes logged a 5.79 ERA from those games. Clarke MacArthur Jersey . All of the scoring came in the final 20:04. Lucic scored on a power play at 15:46 of the third period, when he tipped a shot over Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen for a 3-1 lead. Kerry, Two nights after the Scott-Eriksson incident in Buffalo, the Bruins returned home to play San Jose. In that game, Zdeno Chara put a check on Tommy Wingels that clearly targeted his head. Frank will tell you what the dazzling effort by Kentuckys backcourt in the Champions Classic means.Sinatra, not?Mason III?or?Jackson.I want to wake up in a city that doesnt sleep ... he croons in New York, New York. The bright lights of Midtown seek none. They dont have to. Theyre summoned by acts compelling enough to prompt a metropolis full of people with places to go and things to see to pause for a moment and watch.Perhaps the final minutes of Tuesdays Champions Classic matchup between Duke and Kansas at Madison Square Garden, finalized on a Frank Mason III grown-man jumper, convinced the late arrivals that the main event matched the hype. But the Champions Classic only offered confirmation of realities we all recognized prior to games that mostly lacked the competitiveness most envisioned.Duke? Once the Men in Black -- injured freshmen Jayson Tatum, Harry Giles and Marques Bolden wore dark suits on the sideline -- get healthy and make their collegiate debuts, Duke could storm through the ACC. But the Blue Devils arent yet juggernauts.Kansas? If you tell the tenacious Jayhawks to meet you in the alley for a scrap, theyll just say, When and where?Michigan State? The combination of a hectic travel schedule (Hawaii to New York City), youth and significant injuries haunts a program desperate for a dose of love from a home crowd in East Lansing. And Kentucky? Well, maybe the Wildcats offered something more.On a night of sloppy play -- see?Grayson Allens 4-for-15 effort,?Josh Jacksons foul trouble, Michigan States 19 percent clip from the 3-point line and Kentuckys loss in the battle of the boards to a bunch of shorter Spartans --?Isaiah Briscoe,?DeAaron Fox?and Malik Monk issued a statement: Were ready for this.Thats the only reasonable expectation and standard for a marquee bout less than a week into the 2016-17 campaign. Can you handle this?Yes, the spotlight magnified some of Kentuckys flaws. The Wildcats not named Monk (7-for-11 from the 3-point line) finished 0-for-10 from beyond the arc, confirming coach John Caliparis preseason concerns.Theyre trying to create for each other, he said during SEC media day last month. If someone played us zone, wed punt. But those challenges could not overshadow the preeminence of a backcourt trio that left the Garden looking like the most promising collection of guards in the country.Fox (12 points, 6 assists and 3 turnovers) transmits his passes and authors fast breaks on a private, speedy Wi-Fi network only he can access. Monk dismissed the streaky start to his collegiate career to score 23 points and assume the offensive catalyst role Calipari assumed hed handle prior to the season. And Briscoe, a young old man, scored 21 points, hit all five free throws and remained the steady leader any team needs.I mean, Fox told ESPN.com recently, I dont think we have a limit. We dont know if Kentucky will win the national championship. We dont know if the Wildcats will dominate the rest of their nonconference slate and blitz the SEC like the 2014-15 squad did. We dont know if their current issues, rebounding and extending the floor with consistent shooting from the field, will linger into January or beyond. But we do know every titanic team demands a competitive and confident backcourt to reach the pinnacle. All things extend from a backcourts ability to strengthen the nucleus on both ends of the floor.Monk, Fox and Briscoe, thus far, seem to comprise the kind of trio that boasts the defensive assertiveness and offensive edge to will Kentucky to its peak as it rumbles through a season that will present more challenges than Michigan States undersized lineup. We some dogs, Monk said about his team before the season.Hes not lying. All of this started with a smile. In one offseason pickup game in Lexington, Monk and Fox played on opposing teams that battled every possession in one of those whos-the-alpha-dog-now moments. On the sideline, Briscoe smirked -- he did not participate -- as his new teammates competed like the pickup game counted for something more.At the time, Calipari refused to put the trio together. Not yet. He preferred to toy with other ideas and lineups. In the teams season-opening exhibition win over Clarion, Briscoe and Fox started and Monk played off the bench. Still, not yet.But when they all competed together on the most prominent stage of the nonconference season, they showed the world what all the hype was about.Much of what happens in November is a mirage. Teams will grow and evolve, while others will regress. You cant believe everything you see right now. This, however, is true and tangible: When challenged in the big city at a historic venue with the college basketball world watching, Kentuckys backcourt did not run from the lights of New York City. They basked in them. And thats the most important lesson the Champions Classic taught us.And if I can make it there, Sinatra says, Im gonna make it anywhere.Wait a minute .... Thats Dillon Brooks music! The Oregon star could return next week, per ESPNs Andy Katz. The Ducks finished 3-for-21 from the 3-point line in a 17-point road loss to Baylor on Tuesday. Would Brooks have saved them? His return alters the prospects of a program seeking its first Final Four appearance since President Franklin D. Roosevelts term in office (1939).Lets see what a healthy Oregon squad can do once Brooks gets into shape and begins to play significant minutes. The Indiana Story: Its OK to Say to No to the NBAAfter Indianas redemptive 2015-16 season, James Blackmon Jr., OG Anunoby and Thomas Bryant considered their options. Colin White Senators Jersey. All three had a chance to turn pro. Anunobys athleticism might have helped him get into the league, but Blackmon and Bryant both needed another season in college. So they all came back to Bloomington.Smart decision. Cant say the same for undrafted players like Isaiah Taylor, Wayne Selden and former Indiana standout Troy Williams. In Indianas 103-99 win over Kansas in the Armed Forces Classic in Honolulu on Friday, Anunoby, Bryant and Blackmon combined to score 58 points, grab 23 rebounds and go 9-for-20 from the 3-point line. All three could elevate their draft positions in what could become a run to the Big Ten title and more. Some view fringe prospects who choose to come back for another season as busts or failures. And thats silly. The goal is to enter the draft when youve reached your most lucrative position in the eyes of pro executives. Theres nothing wrong with wanting more time at the Division I level. Those decisions could help Indiana reach the Final Four.Early injuries trouble the Miller brothersWhen Grayson Allen limped off the floor late in the first half of his teams loss to Kansas on Tuesday, fans of a Duke team that entered the game without Bolden, Giles and Tatum all gasped.Allen returned. And the talented youngsters who missed the Champions Classic will, too.The opening weeks of the season, however, did not bestow the same luck upon competitive programs coached by two brothers.Kadeem Allen?of Arizona missed the teams win over CSU Bakersfield on Tuesday with a sprained ankle and will be evaluated throughout the week, only days after his coast-to-coast game-winning layup over Michigan State in the Armed Forces Classic. Coach Sean Miller has already lost Ray Smith, who retired after suffering his third ACL injury during an exhibition, and Allonzo Trier remains sidelined by issues Miller wont address. His brother, Archie Miller, now expects Bradley transfer Josh Cunningham (12.5 points per game) to miss significant time after he suffered a lower leg injury on a late dunk in Daytons road win over Alabama on Tuesday. Standout Kendall Pollard missed the win because of a thigh bruise. The talented siblings could use a break. Soon.Ask Wisconsin: Creightons among the bestYeah, the Badgers couldnt buy a 3-pointer in their road loss to Creighton on Tuesday. But lets focus on the Bluejays for a moment. Maurice Watson Jr., Khyri Thomas and Kansas State transfer Marcus Foster combined to score 50 of their teams 79 points, while also recording six collective steals.Thats an elite backcourt backing Greg McDermotts most explosive team (1.2 points per possession against the Badgers) in the post-Doug McDermott era. They can defend, too. Creighton swarmed Bronson Koenig (3-for-13 from the 3-point line, four turnovers). Thats a problem for the rest of Creightons nonconference slate and the Big East.Przemek Karnowskis return encourages Final Four hype for GonzagaLast year, Karnowski, Gonzagas interior force, suffered a back injury early in the season. By late December, hed undergone season-ending surgery after competing in just a handful of games. The Bulldogs reached the Sweet 16 without him, but the big mans absence affected their frontcourt depth for the duration of the season.During one play in Gonzagas 69-48 win over San Diego State on Monday night, Karnowski drew a double-team before he shot a no-look pass to Missouri transfer Johnathan Williams, who finished with a dunk. Big Smooth alone will not carry Gonzaga to an unprecedented Final Four run. His return, however, is one of the West Coasts most impactful storylines.Mark Fews Transfer U -- Williams, Nigel Williams-Goss (Washington) and Jordan Mathews (Cal) -- has already demonstrated some of the early kinks that an infusion of new faces often incites (16 turnovers in a win over Utah Valley in the season opener) along with the promise of a squad thats far more than just a West Coast Conference title contender. Karnowski has connected on 65 percent of his shots thus far.In the coming months, Gonzaga could evolve into a national title sleeper, especially if Karnowski stays healthy all season.Remember that time Illinois?Malcolm Hill dropped 40 points and nobody seemed to care? The Illini senior sandwiched that 13-for-23 effort against Northern Kentucky between a 21-point game in the teams season-opening victory over Southeast Missouri State and a three-point outing against Division II McKendree on Tuesday.Remember Monte Morris?...... as these early conversations about Wooden Award winners persist. Morris dealt with numerous injuries last season -- he couldnt practice in the final weeks because of shoulder problems -- but he has excelled in the transition to his new role as the focus of an Iowa State attack that lost Georges Niang to the NBA.During Julys Nike Skills Academy in Los Angeles, multiple scouts agreed Morris was the best player on a court stacked with guys named Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, Malcolm Hill, Chris Boucher, Miles Bridges and Tyler Dorsey. The most promising element of his season thus far? Morris 14 assists and two turnovers.Im definitely gonna have to, sometimes, just put my head down and make a play, Morris said this summer at the Skills Academy. Thats just what it will be. But I know what I got myself into coming back, with us losing those seniors. Hell, I just gotta make plays and see what happens. EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Fabio Coentrao Jersey . -- The Minnesota Vikings put up 30 points on the Arizona Cardinals to finally snap a four-game losing streak that had soured their season. On paper, that should be reason to celebrate for an offense that has struggled this season to sustain drives, open holes in the running game and put the ball in the end zone. But one of those touchdowns came on a 100-yard interception return by Xavier Rhodes, and another came on a 104-yard kickoff return by Cordarrelle Patterson. The Vikings followed a similar path to victory on Sunday as they did during their 5-0 start to the season, during which they got two TDs and a safety from their defense and two more TDs from special teams to inflate their scoring numbers. They know that they cant expect to sustain that kind of production over the final six games of the season, starting in Detroit on Thursday.Any time we get help from our defense or special teams, obviously, its a huge help, quarterback Sam Bradford said. And its great to have that, but as an offense, we cant rely on that. Weve got to go out there expecting for us to go out and play well and put up enough points to win.The Vikings offense did score twice in the first half against the Cardinals, but managed just three points in the second half and put up 217 yards in the game. New offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur pulled out several different trick plays to try to loosen up the defense, using some wildcat formations to get a little production out of the leagues worst running game and even going to a flea-flicker that drew a penalty and set up another touchdown.I still think theres a lot of room for improvement, Bradford said. Weve got to be better in the second half. But there were some positives, and obviously, just to get a win. I think that just does a lot for this team and does a lot for this group. Hopefully thats something we can build on going forward.Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata combined to rush for 64 yards on 21 carries. Thats not a number that jumps out, but considering they entered the game on pace to become the first team to average under 3.0 yards per carry since the Patriots in 1994, it was viewed as a step in the right direction.Coach Mike Zimmer was encouraged by the ability to convert a third-and-1 and for Asiata to pound into the end zone from two yards out after watching his team fail over and over in short yardage situations during that four-game skid. Were not going to be Eric Dickerson yet, Zimmer said. Were working on the little things. There remains a possibility that injured star Adrian Peterson could return to the field sometime in December, though he still has a long way to go in the rehab process following surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee. Peterson has been out since Week 2 against Green Bay, but he was only averaging 1.6 yards per carry before he went down.In Petersons absence, Patterson has emerged as a playmaker that the Vikings offense sorely needs. The 2013 first-round draft choice went through a 20-game stretch from 2015 into this season where he had just four catches for 24 yards. But in the last seven games, Patterson has caught 32 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns. Those arent numbers that will make Julio Jones jealous, but its a start.Nothing is good as it seems and nothing is as bad as it seems, Zimmer said. Dak Prescott is looking more and more capable of becoming the first rookie starting quarterback to take his team to a Super Bowl.Whatever whispers there were as recently as a month ago that Prescott would be replaced in the Dallas Cowboys lineup when Tony Romo returned from a back injury, forget about it. Romo is healthy now -- and he is most definitely the backup.Prescott, only a fourth-round draft pick, just keeps producing, pairing with another rookie, running back Ezekiel Elliott, to lead Dallas to a 9-1 record on the strength of the first nine-game winning streak within a single season of the storied franchises history.Prescotts latest impressive performance came in a 27-17 victory Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, a team that entered the day with the NFLs No. 1 defense. All Prescott did was shake off punts on Dallas opening four possessions to wind up 27 of 36 for 301 yards and a trio of TD passes. With the outcome in the balance, Prescott completed 14 of 15 throws in the second half, leading Dallas on drives of 92 and 88 yards, capping each with a scoring toss to Dez Bryant.Clearly, the kid can play. Hes also seen as a leader. Were going to follow that guy. Were going to continue to keep following that guy, Bryant said. The way that he adjusts and the way he handles his business, it says a lot about him.Prescott and first-round pick Elliott -- if anyone else receives serious consideration for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, it would be an upset -- have been consistent as can be this season. So even if its surprising to hear Cowboys owner Jerry Jones insist hell continue to stay away from Super Bowl chatter, its OK for everyone else to consider it a real possibility for his team.In case you missed it, here are other top topics after the NFL seasons 11th Sunday:TEARING IT UPRedskins WR Pierre Garcon made quite a sideline statement as Washington beat defensively challenged Green Bay 42-24 on Sunday night to set up a Thanksgiving Day showdown against division rival Dallas: He ripped a yellow foam Cheesehead in half.DIRTY DOZENGive the NFL credit for getting this one right: Hoping to add some intriguue before last season to the ever-boring extra point, the league made it the equivalent of a 35-yard kick instead of 18. Consider this: In 2014, at the old distance, eight extra points were missed all season. Jake Arians -- who kicked for the Buffalo Bills in 2001 -- was angry about what happened right before Minnesotas Xavier Rhodes took back one of his two interceptions 100 yards for a TD: The Cardinals thought receiver John Brown was held by Vikings defensive back Captain Munnerlyn before the pick. Im sure well turn that into the league, Arizona QB Carson Palmer said, and Im sure theyll come back and say it was holding.CATCHING, TOOSeattle QB Russell Wilson is known for his running ability and passing, of course, but he revealed another talent in a 26-15 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles: He can catch, too. Finally looking healthy the past two weeks after struggling with leg injuries for the seasons first two months, Wilson scored with an over-the-shoulder, 15-yard TD grab on a throw from wideout Doug Baldwin.ELIMINATEDWhat some might have figured was a foregone conclusion since, oh, Week 1 or so is now official: The Cleveland Browns were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention by falling to 0-11 with a 24-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a trade with Oklahoma City for guard Kevin Martin that also allowed them to land swingman Corey Brewer in free agency. Gareon Conley Youth Jersey . The Wolves agreed to terms with Martin on a four-year contract worth nearly $30 million last week. Rather than sign him outright, they decided on Wednesday to execute a sign-and-trade deal with the Thunder to help them free up more cap room to land Brewer. Luke Ridnour is headed from Minnesota to Milwaukee in the three-team trade, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. The person requested anonymity because the deal has not been officially announced. With the extra cap room, the Wolves agreed to terms with Brewer on a three-year, $15 million contract. The parameters were first reported by ESPN. David Sharpe Womens Jersey . JOHNS, N. David Sharpe Jersey . Weve asked Sky Sports Now guests Tony Cottee and Tony Gale to give their expert assessment of the weekends action and grade each team based solely on their latest performance. Premier League results Arsenal 4-0 Watford Aston Villa 0-4 Chelsea Bmouth 0-4 Man City Leicester 1-0 Soton Liverpool 1-1 Spurs Man Utd 1-0 Everton Norwich 3-2 Newcastle Stoke 2-2 Swansea Sunderland 0-0 West Brom West Ham 2-2 C Palace So how did your team fare as top-flight action returned after the international break? Did they get an A+ or an F, or somewhere in between? Read on to see how your team has been ranked... Leicester - AGale: People may have been expecting Leicester to win this game but they still had a job to do. Leicester did what they had to do and won the game on the back of discipline and good defending. If you want to win the Premier League you have to win games when youre not playing well. Leicester appear to have mastered that art.Norwich - A- Martin Olsson is congratulated after scoring Norwichs late winner Cottee: Norwich would have got an A if you didnt concede two goals - thats been their problem all season - but they deserve great credit for their display in a pressurised game. When Newcastle fought back to 2-2 Norwich could have easily taken the point, but to go on and win the game was fantastic.Arsenal - BCottee: An improved performance from Arsenal but its difficult to give them anything higher than a B because it was an uninspiring performance from Watford.Chelsea - B Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring in Chelseas victory at Villa Park Gale: Guus Hiddink gave a few youngsters an opportunity which was good to see. But, in fairness, this was a gimme for Chelsea and they took full advantage of a poor Villa side.Crystal Palace - BGale: Palace could have been more adventurous following West Hams red card. But Dwight Gayle did well to capitalise on a defensive error to earn a decent point for Alan Pardews side.Liverpool - B Philippe Coutinho starred as Liverpool and Spurs served up a classic at Anfield Cottee: This was a much-improved performance from Liverpool, theyve been inconsistent this season and, going into the game, we didnt know which team would turn up. But they really took the game to Spurs, Philippe Coutinho was fantastic. There is more to come from Liverpool, we probably wont see that until next season, though.Man City - BGale: Not quite an A for City but a decent performance nonetheless. I was impressed with the fact they were without Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure but managed to produce a better all-round team performance.Man Utd - B Anthony Martial netted Manchester Uniteds 1000th home Premier League goal in their 1-0 win over Everton. Cottee: United deserve a B simply because of the result. Theyre uninspiring, theyre not playing particularly well but they got the three points so its a fantastic result for them.Southampton - BGale: Ronald Koemans side had a lot of possession but couldnt get that all-important goal. A few decisions went against them and that just sums up Leicester at the moment, theyre getting the run of the ball. Graeme Souness and Peter Schmeichel analyse Danny Simpson blocking Sadio Manes goal-bound shot with his arm. Eddie Vanderdoes Raiders Jersey. Sunderland - BCottee: Sunderland took the game to West Brom and created most of the chances. With better finishing they would have won the three points they so desperately need.Swansea - BGale: Swansea werent really in the game at Stoke but as soon as they got the first goal the equaliser was always going to come. They deserve a B simply for what was an unlikely turnaround.West Ham - B Cheikhou Kouyates controversial red card handed Palace the initiative at Upton Park Gale: Palace tried to stifle West Ham, they scored early but the Hammers fought back thanks to Dimitri Payets wonderful free-kick. At that stage West Ham were in control, but a bad decision to send off Cheikhou Kouyate allowed Palace to get back into the game. The game hinged on the big decision by Mark Clattenburg.Tottenham - B-Cottee: Although Spurs put in a decent performance at Anfield the most important thing was the result. Harry Kanes goal was brilliant but, without a doubt, this was two points dropped rather than a point gained.Everton - C Roberto Martinez ran out of ideas at Everton failed to find a way through at Old Trafford Cottee: I dont know where to start with my old club, they have been so average this season. Fantastic performances are followed by awful ones. They had a lot of possession yesterday but couldnt find a way through. You could argue they didnt deserve to win the game.Newcastle - CCottee: I cant give Newcastle any more than this. The effort is there, they scored two goals away from home, but they couldnt get anything to show for it. Until they actually start getting results theyll struggle to get anything better than a C.Stoke - C Gylfi Sigurdsson sparked the Swansea comeback at Stoke Gale: Stoke are a fantastic footballing side, theyve been one of my favourites to watch this season, but they tend to take their foot off the pedal when theyre playing the sides in and around them. This was the case on Saturday, with the Potters throwing away a two-goal lead.West Brom - CGale: Not a practically inspiring performance from West Brom but Tony Pulis set them up to get a point and they did. They are up to 40 points now and theyve done their job, they are in the Premier League next season.Bournemouth - D Kevin De Bruyne played a key role in Manchester Citys 4-0 win over Bournemouth Gale: I didnt foresee Bournemouth getting anything from this game if City turned up but Eddie Howes side could, and probably should, have made it more difficult. James Anderson insists he will be fit to play a role in Englands Test tour of India next month, even though he is unlikely to start bowling again for another three weeks as he continues his recovery from a long-term shoulder injury. Blank Wales Jersey .Speaking at Lords ahead of the NatWest OSCAs, Anderson admitted his frustration at missing out on the Bangladesh leg of Englands campaign, following a stress fracture of his left shoulder blade that caused him to miss the first Test against Pakistan in July. However, he took umbrage at the suggestion that - at the age of 34 and with 463 Test wickets to his name in a 14-year England career - his body is beginning to struggle with the intensity of his international workload.I feel fine, Anderson told ESPNcricinfo. Its a frustrating injury where everything feels good, the rest of my body feels great, but as soon as I try to bowl Ive got a bit of pain there. Its something thats going to take a few more weeks to rest and recover. Ive got another scan in three weeks to see if its healed enough for me to start bowling.Im not going to miss the entire trip, no, he said. Im very confident Im going to be involved in the India series, it is a frustrating injury, something I want to get right, but it does happen in cricket, in sport, you get injured, youve just got to deal with it, and hopefully I can get as fit as possible as soon as possible.Despite Andersons optimism, the timescale is a concern, with England facing five Tests against India in the space of six weeks, starting in Rajkot on November 9, one week after the conclusion of the Bangladesh tour.Anderson has not bowled in a competitive fixture since the fourth Test against Pakistan at The Oval in August, and with no warm-up games scheduled for the early weeks of the India leg, there will be scant opportunity for him to regain his match fitness ahead of one of the toughest assignments in Test cricket. What is more, having not missed an England Test through injury since the Sri Lanka series in 2011 (at Edgbaston in 2012, he was rested alongside Stuart Broad for a dead-rubber against West Indies) Anderson has now had to sit out four of Englands last 16 Tests - two against Australia in the 2015 Ashes, and one each against South Africa and Pakistan. His situation is such that Andrew Strauss, the director of England cricket, admitted after the squads arrival in Bangladesh earlier this week that he didnt know whether to expect Andersons return at any stage of the tour, adding that he may require careful management over the next 12 months if he is to survive a hectic schedule that culminates in next years Ashes tour of Australia.Anderson, however, disagreed vehemently with that assessment - much as he had done during the Pakistan series, when his protestations of fitness ahead of the Lords Test were over-ruled by Englands selectors and medical staff. No, I dont think like that at all, he said. Ive had a couple of injuries here and there in the last 18 months, which is pretty much all Ive had in my career. I dont think thats going to deter me from wanting to play in every single game that I possibly can.I love playing the game, I love playing for England and I dont want to miss any cricket. Im sure that the management and medical team will have different opinions to me, but well cross that bridge when we come to it down the line.I dont think my body has let me down in any shape or form, he added. I feel as fit as I ever have, I feel very strong, the rest of my body Ive been working hard on, Ive done a lot of running, and Im confident that I can come back fit.Theres little doubt that England would dearly love to have Anderson back for what promises to be an intense contest, as India - the newly-crowned No.1 Test team - seek to avenge their home-and-away defeats in their last two series against England. In spite of those who maintain that Anderson loses his impact away from Englands green seamers, his record in India stands up to scrutiny - 22 wickets in seven Tests at 29.81, including matchwinning spells in Mumbai in 2006 and Kolkata in 2012. He knows that his experience with the new ball could be crucial in helping to guide the fortunes of a talented but largely untested attack.Do I have to prove myself? he said. Ive enjoyed bowling out there, its a huge challenge as a seam bowler, and I think that gives you more fulfilment and satisfaction if you do do well.Certainly myself and Stuart [Broad], having been there before, well need that experience when it comes to playing in that series, as well have plenty bowlers who wont have been there before, so well have to help the guys settle into that environment as quickly as possible.Recent contests between England and India have been understandably feisty affairs, and Anderson - who became embroiled in an ugly row with Ravi Jadeja during the last series in 2014 - expects this next campaign to be little different. We are two teams that play with great passion, he said. I watched the India-New Zealand series recently and you could see the passion the India side has got, led by Virat Kohli. We are a very similar team in that respect. We go out there wanting to win and we play with a lot of passion. And when two teams play like that, then inevitably you are going to get some fieriness on the field. As for the Jadeja row, he added: Thats in the past. We shook hands at the end of the series and, for me, that was the end of it. And I think for him as well too. Im sure there will be battles between individuals when we are out there, but hopefully it will be with bat and ball.In the meantime, however, the focus will be on Englands fortunes in Bangladesh, and in Andersons absence, it may fall to the breakthrough star of the English summer, Chris Woakes, to exploit what little movement may be on offer on what are expected to be slow and low wickets at Chittagong and Dhaka. What he brings with bat and ball is crucial to the balance of our team, said Anderson. Hes an amazing talent, he can swing the ball both ways, he can reverse the ball, and hes got pace so hes got everything you need to be successful. And hes been working on subtle variations - offcutters, legcutters - that you need out there. He is crucial to the balance of our team, he brings depth, and Im sure hell go from strength to strength in the next few years.James Anderson was speaking at the NatWest Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards (OSCAs), which recognise the contribution that volunteers make to the game. Its a hard one to identify in sport as it is in business but its customary to examine results. Its here that John Obi Mikel might feel entitled to a claim. The Nigerian midfielders unbeaten record under Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has become well documented in recent weeks and that sequence continued at Watford on Wednesday. Over two spells under the Dutchman, Mikel has gone unbeaten in 25 appearances for the Blues. Hiddink is adamant that John Terry could still have a future at Chelsea. Its not been straightforward. The run has included shut outs away to Barcelona and Manchester United, while there have been wins at Arsenal seven years apart. The only game that Hiddink has lost so far as Chelsea boss came against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in 2009. Mikel was injured. Mikel under Hiddink - First spell 2008/09 season Total Won 14 Drawn 3 Lost 0 There was another game that ended badly for Hiddinks Blues - Andres Iniestas stoppage-time equaliser winning that years Champions League semi-final for Barcelona. It wouldnt be a shock if the boss regrets leaving Mikel on the bench that day rather than having him shutting the Spaniard down. Hiddink favourite John Obi Mikel has now started six Premier League games in a row for the first time since 2012. So what is it about Mikel? At Vicarage Road, there were four tackles, two clearances and three interceptions to emphasise his influence. The 28-year-old was the only midfielder on the pitch to win possession of the ball more times than he surrendered it. It was classic Mikel. Patrolling the midfield area, Chelsea have fared better with Mikel around The Premier League tracking data that records distance covered and sprints is not so remarkable, but perhaps theres some sense in that too. Protection for the back four is provided by his presence. As a result, mobility in midfield isnt always a virtue when its vacating the position thats the problem.Ostensibly, Nemanja Matic is the more capable player in many ways but Mikels appreciation of the holding aspect of the holding-miidfield role might make him, rather that the talented Serb, the man that Chelsea needed during their period of poor form earlier in the campaign. Custom Wales Soccer Jersey. Mikels simple use of the ball against Crystal Palace was impressive Mikels domination of this key central zone was particularly apparent in the recent 3-0 win at Crystal Palace, a game in which his name was chanted vociferously by the visiting supporters. I dont think Ive ever seen John Obi Mikel play so well, Graeme Souness told Sky Sports. He bossed that area.Hiddink, on the other hand, has seen it all before. Hes the ideal player to bring balance to the team, he said. If the team is not willing to defend well, or hasnt got the right balance, then youll concede a lot of goals. I think John Obi can be one of the key figures in bringing back that balance. Hes the ideal player to bring balance to the team. Guus Hiddink on John Obi Mikel He reads the game very well, he knows where the strength of the opponent is and knows how to combat that. He has very good sense, he doesnt do it in a brutal way, hes very elegant. Someone who can defend so smoothly is very beautiful. Its also effective. Since being restored to the starting line-up, Chelsea have kept four clean sheets in six games. Thats as many as they managed in the previous 18 matches. Getting the basics right has been a feature of Hiddinks approach. Hes kept things simple, and thats just how Mikel likes it. Midfield enforcer? Mikel has a habit of making life difficult for opponents Its the way he communicates with the players and maybe thats what the players felt they didnt get from the previous manager, said Mikel in a surprise dig at former boss Jose Mourinho. You need to speak to them and dont just ignore them because players like to be communicated to.For the midfielder, the instructions are crystal clear now. Hes good in short passing, explained Hiddink. I dont expect and I dont ask him to make the decisive final pass. He can but no, we let the other players do that. The talented players can then explore their qualities. Mikel under Hiddink - Second spell 2015/16 season Total Won 3 Drawn 5 Lost 0 Mikel has the best passing accuracy of any Chelsea midfielder, finding a team-mate 89.4 per cent of the time. Its almost a throwback to the pure holding midfielders of the past, such as one-time Chelsea team-mate Claude Makelele. Mikel doesnt fashion the chances. But thats not his job.Of course, this lack of creativity might lead some to conclude that this is no long-term solution. Not everyone is comfortable with the man they call the final whistle due to the regularity with which he has been introduced from the bench in order to defend leads, blowing right from the kick-off. But whatever the future holds, his presence isnt doing Chelsea too much harm right now. The simple approach is helping. This was about steadying this ship. And even now, six-and-a-half years on from Hiddinks last spell, they dont come much steadier than John Obi Mikel. Also See: Is Pedro in danger? RIO DE JANEIRO -- The problems are stacking up for Kenya at the Olympics: A new doping scandal, ineligible athletes, missing plane tickets, and now bad blood between the track and field federation and the national Olympic committee. And their top athletes havent even set foot on the track in Rio de Janeiro.Athletics Kenya on Monday blamed the Kenyan Olympic committee for the travel problems that left javelin world champion Julius Yego without a plane ticket to Rio and caused other frustrated athletes, including 1,500-meter world champion Asbel Kiprop, to book their own flights and travel separately.Any confusion ... with athletes travel is solely a mistake of NOCK, AK said in a statement. The problems between the two bodies followed news on Sunday that Kenya was sending track and field team manager Michael Rotich home to face a police investigation after allegations he told undercover reporters that he could give athletes advance warning about doping tests in exchange for money. Also, Kenya was forced to withdraw its mens 4x400-meter relay team, high jumper Mathew Sawe, and 200-meter runner Carvin Nkanata from the Olympics because they werent eligible. NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. Brian Bellows Jersey . -- Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria has signed off on spending the money required to ink free-agent closers Kenley Jansen or Aroldis Chapman, if his baseball people can reach a deal, a source told ESPN.com on Tuesday. The Marlins have spoken with the agents for both Jansen and Chapman, although sources say their preference is to sign Jansen, in part because of manager Don Mattinglys familiarity with the former?Dodgers?closer from their time together in Los Angeles.Lorias preliminary approval does not necessarily mean the Marlins will land either closer, however. The?Yankees, Dodgers and?Nationals?also have been in pursuit of one or both of the two prominent free agents on the market. So both players could opt to sign with a club they perceive to be closer to winning. It is also possible that the Marlins front office will balk at the ultimate price tag, which one general manager estimated Tuesday could reach five years, for $85 million to $95 million. And if the Marlins sign Jansen, they would have to surrender their first-round pick in next Junes amateur draft, because Jansen last month rejected a qualifying offer from the Dodgers. That pick would be the 14th overall choice in the first round. The Marlins still have All-Star closer A.J. Ramos on their roster. However, they have told agents and teams theyve spoken with that, in the wake of ace starter Jose Fernandezs tragic death in September, they believe they have a better chance of assembling a dominant bullpen than a dominant starting rotation. If the Marlins were to sign Jansen or Chapman, they would be likely to use Ramos as a setup man.Although Miami battled numerous injuries and finished the season three games under .500 at 79-82 and seven games out in the wild-card standings, the club actually led the race for the second wild card in August, had a winning record as late as Sept. 20 and still had an outside shot at making the playoffs before Fernandezs death in a boating accident on Sept. 25.So Loria believes his team is talented enough to contend next season and has urged his front office to do what is necessary to win, according to those who have spoken with Marlins officials.ESPNs Jim Bowden has reported that Jansen is expected to sign before Chapman and could agree to a deal before the winter meetings end on Thursday. We were willing to commit to the length of the deal early. Really felt like he fit in well with the culture that were trying to build here. It spoke to him because hes seen it firsthand.Reddick, who gets $13 million in each of the next four seasons, appealed to the Astros as a free agent because he bats left-handed, won a Gold Glove and does not turn 30 until February. In eight big league seasons, Reddick has 96 homers, 346 RBI and a . On Monday the AP Top 25 poll voters took notice of the Broncos and slotted them at No. 24 -- the first national ranking in school history.Hardly a perennial MAC power, Western Michigan is 6-0 for the first time since 1941, including a takedown of Northwestern 22-21 in the opener and a 34-10 win over Illinois on Sept. 17.The Broncos continue their potential dream season when they travel to play Akron (4-2, 2-0 MAC) on Saturday. This is what we wanted as a community, coach P.J. They deserve all the credit in the world. Two of Western Michigans stars, quarterback Zach Terrell and receiver Corey Davis, started as freshmen together on a 1-11 team in 2013.Davis broke the school record last week with his 40th touchdown catch, surpassing the mark set by former Green Bay Packer Greg Jennings. He finished the 45-30 win over Northern Illinois with six catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns -- including a terrific one-handed grab of a Terrell end zone pass that was the top play of the day on ESPN. Hes got 36 receptions for 589 yards, and his eight touchdowns is second in the FBS.Western Michigan has established a website to promote Davis candidacy for the Heisman Trophy, with Fleck saying, its our obligation to make sure the nation knows.Terrell has been almost as good, with a 71 percent completion rate (4th in the nation), 15 touchdowns and a QB rating of 188.2 (3rd in the nation). A pair of running backs -- Jamauri Bogan and Jarvion Franklin -- have split the majority of the carries, each surpassing the 500-yard mark and scoring five touchdowns apiecce. Davis Webb Jersey. .Their athletes are at the top level of this conference, Akron coach Terry Bowden said. Theyve got stars at every position, they play with great confidence and great talent. I dont see any weaknesses on their football team. With all the attention, of course, comes talk that the 35-year-old Fleck -- the youngest head coach in the FBS -- could be a candidate for one of the Power Five coaching jobs expected to open up after the season.AKRONS SUPER SUB: Akron quarterback TraVon Chapman stepped in for injured starter Thomas Woodson for the second straight week last Saturday and did a little bit of everything in the win over Miami (Ohio). The junior was 15 for 29 passing for 174 yards and three touchdowns, and picked up another 80 yards running the ball. The offense managed just 299 yards but kept Miami in check, despite being without its two starting defensive ends. Bowden said the defensive effort was the best of the year so far.THAT GUY LOOKS FAMILIAR: Akrons No. 1 running back to start the season was Warren Ball, who played three seasons at Ohio State and is using his final year of eligibility at the MAC school. Ball, a former four-star prospect from Columbus, rushed for 189 yards on 41 attempts for the Buckeyes, but was overshadowed by Carlos Hyde and then Ezekiel Elliott. He graduated from OSU and enrolled at Akron as a grad student so he could play for the Zips. He played in the first two games, picking up 181 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries, but has not played in the last four because of an unspecified injury. CYPRESS, Calif. Dion Dawkins Jersey .- California Chrome is leaving home a winner. In his final start in the state where he was bred, California Chrome scored a popular win in the $180,000 Los Alamitos Winter Challenge on Saturday, which was created in recent months as a farewell race.California Chrome is scheduled to make the final start of his career in the $12 million Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 28 before going to stud in Kentucky in February.California Chrome, the 2014 Horse of the Year, drew a crowd of more than 5,000 to Los Alamitos on Saturday. They saw what they wanted. As California Chrome left the winners circle, the audience crowded on the rails shouted his name, Chrome! Chrome! Chrome!Ridden by Victor Espinoza, California Chrome raced wide for the first six furlongs, took the lead entering the stretch, and won by 12 lengths without urging. California Chrome ran 1-1/16 miles in a track record time of 1:40.03.Its a good day, trainer Art Sherman said. You could see what happens when you have a star.California Chrome won the 15th stakes of his career in the Los Alamitos Winter Challenge. This year, he has won 7 of 8 starts, with the only loss a second to Arrogate in the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Nov. 5. Earlier this year, California Chrome won six stakes, including the $10 million Dubai World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in March and the $1 million Pacific Classic at Del Mar in August. The recent loss was on Shermans mind when Espinoza urged California Chrome to the front with more than a quarter-mile remaining.Go on with him, now, Sherman recalled thinking. Dont look over your shoulder. Weve seen a couple of those rides. He was much the best today. This is great.California Chrome led through many of his recent races, but was fourth and then fifth through the first half-mile of the Winter Challenge. Breaking from the outside in a field of 10, California Chrome was three wide on the first turn and five wide on the backstretch and turn. While the trip may have rattled the nerves of California Chromes backers, Sherman said he was comfortable with the 5-year-olds position.I told Victor, Keep him in the clear. You dont have to rush him, Sherman said in the winners circle. People dont remember hes better coming off the pace. Hes a push-button horse.California Chrome led by three lengths with a furlong remaining and drew off without urging. Point Piper, the winner of the Grade 3 Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs in August, closed from sixth to finish second, 3-1/4 lengths in front of Papacoolpapacool, who closed from last.Aint Misbehavin finished fourth, followed by Avanti Bello, Presidentsky, Howdy, Wrightwood, Lucky J Lane, and Unusual Meeting. To encourage participation against such a heavy favorite, the track boosted prize money for the other runners, paying $30,000 for second, $20,000 for third, and $15,000 for fourth and fifth. The other finishers received $10,000 each.Espinoza said he thought California Chrome was ready when he climbed aboard in the paddock. He was super strong today, Espinoza said. The most important thing was how he felt physically. While the Los Alamitos Winter Challenge was a minor race, Espinoza said the race helped soothe the loss in the BC Classic when Espinoza rode with confidence only to be caught in the final strides by Arrogate. After the race I got beat, it was nice to win the race the way he did today, Espinoza said. Maybe I blew it [in the Breeders Cup]. It wasnt perfect. I could have done a little better.Espinoza said he was not concerned California Chrome had a wide trip.I moved a little early on the turn. I took the first turn a little wide, he said. The last turn I thought if the horse next to me doesnt take the turn I didnt want to lose ground.California Chrome paid $2.10 and was so heavily backed that he created a minus win pool of $58,170. There was no place or show wagering offered.California Chrome has won 16 of 26 starts and earned $14,502,650, the highest earnings of a North American-based Thoroughbred. Saturdays win was worth $50,000, and put the famous runner on schedule for the Pegasus World Cup. LOS ANGELES -- If this is a nap, it needs work. Wayne Gallman Youth Jersey . But leaning her head against the window of an Uber in stop-and-go traffic is as good as it gets these days, and so it will have to do. Even when there are only a few minutes of actual sleep.Even when the driver wakes her to say what a big fan he is.Even when shes only 16 and its all so crazy that less than four months after thinking it couldnt possibly get any more amazing than realizing her lifes ambition of making the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team, shes being stopped on airport curbs and in public bathrooms by people telling her that her Paso Doble was great.I wouldnt call me your average 16-year-old, she says.Nope, but Laurie Hernandez is living the current version of the post-Olympic American dream, first winning a gold medal in Rio de Janeiro with her Final Five team and an individual silver medal on beam, then coming home to a national tour, and one of the highest-rated shows on television. She initially planned on going to the University of Florida and competing on its three-time NCAA championship team, but only after the Olympics.I loved Florida, Hernandez said. That was the No. 1 school I always wanted to go to. [But] I realized I had a lot of opportunities coming my way and I really, really wanted to experience them. I didnt just go pro overnight. I really thought about it. But I think it was one of the best decisions Ive made. She said she definitely wants to go to college one day. She also wants to compete in the 2020 Olympics. And in Rio, she appeared shocked at the notion of taking a year or more off before resuming her training, something Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas did after the 2012 Olympics.Ask Hernandez now about the future and anything is possible, including an acting career after it is suggested that she would be a natural. What I dreamed of originally was just going to the Olympics, so this is all kind of like a bonus, she said. Ive always wanted to be an actress. I think that would be cool. But I cant even tell you what Im doing tomorrow. The face that inspired the nickname human emoji defaults to wide-smile mode while her eyes dance and shine. It comes in handy for a life of wonder and joy, two qualities that carried her through the Olympics, engage her legions of young fans on USA Gymnastics 36-city tour and light up the screen on ABCs Dancing With The Stars, where, with partner Val Chmerkovskiy, she is currently a favorite to win.The show is perpetually in the top 20 in respect to ratings, drawing (on average) more than 12 million viewers per episode this season, and has had among its contestants 22 former Olympians (including Hernandez), though only one, gymnast Shawn Johnson (Season 8), has won the coveted mirror ball trophy. On this night, in the sixth week of the season, Hernandez is holding hands with actress Marilu Henner, 48 years her senior, as the two jog up the stairs before the show begins. Random shouts of Go Laurie can be heard from the ballroom crowd, and its quickly apparent that shes wildly popular with both fans and fellow contestants. Her maturity is ahead of her years, Chmerkovskiy said. She doesnt act like 16, but at the same time, she has the youthfulness and joy of a 16-year-old. She is loved by everybody, and its hard not to smile around her. Its hard not to be happy around Laurie. But at the same time, she is a fierce young lady, very driven and very strong.Hernandez, who is the youngest on the show this season, calls her 30-year-old partner a big brother and the group a family as she chats with fellow contestants Maureen McCormick and Amber Rose as if theyre old friends (Rose has since departed the show). That she is on the show at all, she said, was both a surprise and a thrill.I was at the Olympics and we had finished one of the workouts, I think it was after the team finals and before beam, and my coach said, Oh, by the way, youre doing Dancing With The Stars, and I was freaking out and calling my parents, Hernandez recalled. No one told me, Hey, by the way, you might do it or Were thinking about somehow getting you in, or anything like that. It was just out of the blue. I think my coach and everybody knew that I wanted to go on the show so it wouldnt be disappointing to say, Youre going. It wasnt like, Were forcing you to go. Like the other gymnasts who have competed on the show, Johnson, Raisman (who finished in fourth place in Season 16), and Nastia Liukin (who was also placed fourth in Season 20), Hernandez was a quick learner and an instant contender. But Chmerkovskiy said Hernandez is different than the other gymnasts the show has previously featured.Beyond gymnastics, I think shes a star, he said. Besides being a great athlete and person, she has a presence about her that fills up a room. I see her being a huge Hollywood star and a huge motivator for her generation. Her partner got an early glimpse of another side of Hernandez when, waiting backstage to compete in the featured final spot following fellow Olympian Ryan Lochte in the opening show, Lochtes judging was interrupted when a man in the crowd rushed the swimmer on the live telecast before being tackled and dragged off by security. As the show awkwardly cut to a commercial, Chmerkovskiy said Hernandez demonstrated her Olympic-level poise. She was so composed and its that, and her sense of strength when it comes to rising to the occasion, thats so impressive as well, he said. I feel like I was more flustered than she was and [thats] my world. Something Ive been doing.Though some fans might assume DWTS should be easy for gymnasts, who have dance elements in their floor routines, the athletes say muscle memory can often get in the way.Its so different, Hernandez said. With gymnastics, youre showcasing your flips, your leaps, your turns -- whereas with dancing, youre showcasing the dance. The dance is the performance. Theres so much technical, the footwork and things like that, that goes into dancing as much as gymnastics.Pointing is kind of the same, but there will be times when Val will say, OK, shift your weight, and I keep doing a gymnastics lunge where Im supposed to be leaning on my front foot and my back foot is supposed to be pointed. But its habit for me so Im still trying to break out of those. Or like when Im turning, hes like, No, you have to put your elbow in, but I keep doing it as if Im doing a twist on floor or something. And then there are the hips, a frequent subject of the judges comments on the show.Youre not supposed to move your hips in gymnastics, so that was caged away for a while, but now my partner Val is trying to bring that back and its interesting, Hernandez said. The first week I was like, Im scared to move my hips. Im also 16.She giggles. The show, with its Argentine tangos and Latin salsas, requires a level of emotion and depth of, um, experience that has made Hernandezs lack thereof a charming source of amusement. In the fourth episode of the season, rehearsing for a tango faceoff against Henner, Chmerkovskiy tried to get Hernandez to caress his cheek as she dissolved into laughter.Ive never had a boyfriend or anything, she explained to him. I sleep with a teddy bear at night. After the dance, when asked how she channeled the emotion and ended up so convincingly looking the part of the sultry love interest, Hernandez puckered her lips and inhaled deeply for the judges. I was telling Val, Ive got to pretend Im smelling a really good quesadilla.Other than bruising the bottom of her big toes from doing relevés in heels, she wont even try to compare the Olympics to this.I do get a little bit nervous before I go out and dance, but not much really compares, she said. Theyre really two totally different sports. I associate dance as a sport because its hard and I feel like its kind of underrated. She has practiced her steps on planes and studied a video Chmerkovskiy sent to her of the Michael Jackson-inspired dance in Week 4, during the U.S. teams White House visit in September. She fits in homeschooling on set and when shes not in L.A. practicing, she is juggling the U.S. tour stops and DWTS rehearsals with Chmerkovskiy, who flies in to meet her on the road.Life is hectic and decidedly different now that she is famous.People would tell me, Youre going to start getting recognized and stuff, but no one could have really, actually prepared me for what it was like, she said. I cant walk around without getting recognized, which isnt a bad thing, but my whole life did a 180. Its all different. Were all going to the MTV Music Video Awards, were all doing Jimmy Fallon -- things like that and thats incredible. While she almost passed out meeting Beyoncé, Hernandez said she is just as floored when a celebrity recognizes her. When a celebrity walks up and says Im a big fan my mind just explodes, she said. Im like, But wait, Im a big fan of yours. Hernandezs mother Wanda, a school social worker who travels to L.A. for shows -- either with Lauries father Tony, or older daughter Jelysa, 27 (Laurie also has a brother Marcus, 20) -- said she finds her youngest daughters self-perception reassuring. She doesnt see herself as a celebrity, Wanda said. Sometimes people just want to take pictures, but sometimes its Hey, how are you doing? and Laurie is enjoying the process of meeting people, no matter who they are.The money involved with all of this -- DWTS winners typically earn as much as $350,000 -- is irrelevant, Hernandez says.Ive always wanted to be on the show and when they told me, I was really excited, not because I would get paid for doing it but because I would be dancing, she said.Still, said three-time Olympic medal-winning gymnast Paul Hamm -- now 34 and retired -- who visited the USA tour when it stopped in Chicago, its a nice bonus.Shes obviously a great dancer, I think shes great on the show, very likeable, so those things really worked out well for her, he said of Hernandez. I think its great for gymnastics. ... It fits well. The girl Olympic gymnasts transition over to this Dancing With The Stars, its sort of like a path that you take nowadays. And it is a path that must be seized upon while the proverbial window is open. There are more opportunities opening up [for Olympic medal winners], but [in] the four to six months afterward, you try to capitalize on the stardom you created in the Olympic Games, he said. Its s a real big roller coaster that athletes go through emotionally, because its this big Olympic hype and youre on worldwide TV, and you go on these tours and these shows and all of a sudden that ends -- and youre like, Ohh, Im supposed to train now?Hernandez is too busy to think about that now. And having much too much fun. There are so many opportunities, she said. I wake up in the morning and theyre like, OK, youre going here, and that keeps happening, so Im curious how long thats going to last. Definitely I want to get the most out of them because this could never happen again. Dalvin Tomlinson Jersey . The (11-11-4) Jets are seventh in the Central Division with 26 points. CHICAGO -- It would be an understatement to say Terry Francona exhausted his bag of tricks in the Cleveland Indians 1-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Game 3 of the World Series. The Indians manager started his designated hitter, Carlos Santana, in left field. He lifted his starting pitcher, Josh Tomlin, in the middle of a shutout after 4? innings. He burned his most dominant reliever, Andrew Miller, with nine outs to go. And he used each of the 13 position players on his roster.By the end of the evening, Francona was tired-yet-euphoric; gratified-yet-frazzled. And the Indians had taken a 2-games-to-1 lead and ensured that the Cubs only route to clinching their first title in 108 years would entail a trip back to Progressive Field in Cleveland. That was agonizing, Francona said. As fun of a game as it was to be a part of, that was agonizing because we used so many guys. The Indians and Cubs split the first two games in Cleveland, but both games were one-sided affairs with no late-inning drama. Game 3, in contrast, was a messy and thoroughly entertaining October classic. There were several mental errors and defensive misplays, and the Indians came out on the short side of two of three defensive replays. But the result was in doubt from the first pitch through Cody Allens game-ending strikeout of Javier Baez.Cleveland pitching coach Mickey Callaway sensed he was in the middle of something special when he watched Francona navigate one briar patch after another in the late innings. It was fun, Callaway said. We used every one of our bench players and Titos lineup card was a mess. There was stuff going on everywhere. The Indians received a terrific performance from Tomlin, who rocked the Cubs to sleep with fastball command, an effective curve and mound presence to spare. It was a performance made even more poignant by the presence of his father, Jerry, who is paralyzed from the waist down due to a rare medical condition but still found a way to travel all the way from Texas to watch his son make him proud. It was a night of growing pains for Cleveland shortstop Francisco Lindor, who killed a potential big inning in the first when he got picked off by Kyle Hendricks and grounded into a bases-loaded double play against Justin Grimm on the fifth. If the Indians had lost this game, Lindor would have had a tough night getting to sleep back at the team hotel. The game marked the first postseason appearance by Cleveland catcher Yan Gomes and the first significant contribution from 34-year-old utility man Michael Martinez, who scored the only run as a pinch-runner and played center field and third base in the late innings. But most of all, it was a showcase for Francona, who milked every emotion out of his welcome-back-to-the-National League odyssey. The wheels began spinning in the bottom of the fifth. With 13 Cubs down and 14 outs remaining, Francona came to the mound and pulled Tomlin for Miller after a mere 58 pitches. The Indians plan to bring Tomlin back on short rest in Game 6, so it was a nice bonus for Francona to lift him so early. But it was also a bit of a risky play for the Indians.Miller had pitched two or more innings five times in his first seven postseason appearances. But all those outings came under American League rules. There was no DH in play at Wrigley, so Francona knew that circumstances might prevent him from getting that kind of length out of Miller oon Friday. Dalvin Tomlinson Giants Jersey. I dont think we really want to go 2? innings all the time, Francona said. I mean, its worked out like that, and in the National League its certainly going to be a little harder. But he threw (17) pitches, and I was OK with where we were there. That was plenty for tonight.Miller retired Miguel Montero on a fly out to strand the potential tying run at second base in the fifth, and he struck out Dexter Fowler, Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo in order in the sixth. But he was due to bat fourth in the top of the seventh, and the Indians knew he was on borrowed time.As the Indians put runners on first and third on a Roberto Perez single, a sacrifice bunt, a wild pitch and a walk, Miller stood in the on-deck circle sporting a baby giraffe-in-the-headlights look. But it was strictly for show; the Indians had no intention of letting him anywhere near home plate.I asked Andrew if he could hit in case we didnt take the lead before that, and he said, No! Callaway said, laughing. With good reason: Miller has a career batting average of .056 (4-for-72) and he hadnt made a plate appearance since 2011, when he struck out in all four of his at-bats with the Boston Red Sox.I didnt have a whole lot of confidence in my ability, Miller said. Im terrible. Pretty awful. I could hit [batting practice] OK for a little while, but ultimately I think pitching was the way to go for me.Francona mercifully took Miller down and summoned Coco Crisp, who was acquired from the Oakland Athletics in September, and Crisp promptly delivered a single to right field off Carl Edwards Jr. to drive in the only run of the game. It was the latest contribution in a memorable run for Crisp, who had previously homered in Clevelands American League Central title clincher, the division series clincher against Boston and the ALCS clincher against Toronto. With Miller out of play, it was up to Bryan Shaw and Allen to apply the hammer in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, and they were up to the task. Shaw pitched around a Jorge Soler triple in the seventh and logged 1? scoreless innings, and Allen whiffed Baez on a 94-mph heater to strand runners at second and third and send the Wrigley fans home miserable. This is the best those two guys have looked, and thank God, Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis?said. This bullpen and this pitching staff has been carrying us. Theyre the reason were here, and theyre probably the reason well go wherever we go.If Francona follows his postseason routine Saturday, hell go for an early swim to clear his head, arrive at the park before noon and start reading the scouting reports sans distractions. He has been living in a cocoon, and hes not about to let his emotions get the best of him now.We know were going to have our hands full to beat those guys, and tonight was a good example, Francona said. That was as close a ballgame as youre ever going to find, and we found a way to manage to win that game. We say it all the time: We want to be one run better. Thats about as true to form as you can get.The drama of Game 3 will be difficult to top, but Francona will be back in the dugout Saturday night with a pristine lineup card, staff ace Corey Kluber on the mound and Indians two wins away from their first World Championship since 1948.
